Md Billal Hossain: The Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa, Canada celebrated Bangla New Year 1432. Diplomats from various countries and Canadian government officials participated in the program organized at the High Commission premises on the occasion of Bangla New Year.
The guests, who arrived to the tune of traditional Bengali music, enjoyed various types of pitha and Bengali food including panta bhat, khichuri and muri-murki. A delightful exhibition of various traditional items of Bangladesh including Jamdani sarees was also organized at the venue.
Guests painted their hands with henna designs and met each other to share the joy of the festival. The event was a spiritual gathering—a reminder that when culture is shared, it becomes a unique medium of connection.
In her welcome speech, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada Nahida Sobhan said that this day is not just a celebration – it is an expression of Bangladeshis’ optimism, tolerance, and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
This delightful event was organized to showcase the culture and traditional Pahela Boishakh festival of Bangladesh among diplomats from different countries in Canada. The guests who attended the event highly appreciated the traditional food, pitha and culture of Pahela Boishakh of Bangladesh.
